Lakshmi, 65
Background:

Lakshmi, a 65-year-old widow, lost her husband due to cancer in 2016. She lives in a family of five, supported by her son, who works as a painter. Being financially dependent on her son, Lakshmi feels like a burden to her family. As a result, she avoids seeking medical care or discussing her health issues with family.

How Narbhavi Helped:
Narbhavi Trust raised awareness in the community about the “Kalaignar Kappittu Thittam” health insurance scheme. With Narbhavi’s support, she successfully enrolled in the scheme and received her insurance card.

Outcome:
Lakshmi expressed her relief, saying, "Now I can support my own family and myself in health Aspects." This has given her a sense of independence and eased her worries.

Arun, 46
Background:
Arun, a 46-year-old man, has faced significant challenges caring for his son, who has been paralyzed since childhood due to missing the polio vaccination. The family tried various treatments at multiple hospitals, spending large amounts of money in hope of a cure. Eventually, they were informed that the condition is permanent and cannot be treated. Despite this, Arun remained determined to secure health insurance to prepare for any future medical expenses and ensure better care for his son.

How Narbhavi Helped:

Suganya, 32
Background:

Suganya, a 32-year-old woman, earns ₹8,000–₹9,000 per month by selling plastic clips at Parris Corner. Due to financial challenges, she wanted health insurance to ensure her family’s safety in case of medical emergencies.

How Narbhavi Helped:
After knowing that Narbhavi Trust help people to get health insurance, Suganya received guidance and successfully enrolled in a health insurance scheme.

Outcome:
Suganya's daily earnings are mostly spent on her children's education and food, leaving little room for unexpected expenses. In emergencies, she often struggles and ends up in debt. However, with the help of Narbhavi Trust, she enrolled in the Kalaignar Kappittu Thittam. Now, with health insurance in place, she feels more secure and prepared to handle unforeseen situations.

Mythili, 29

Background:

Mythili, a 29-year-old woman, was hospitalized for labor pain and, during the treatment, was given a high dose of painkiller injections. Unfortunately, this led to her developing Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), a serious condition where blood clots form in the veins, causing critical health issues. Her situation became severe, and her family faced significant financial difficulties. Her husband, an auto driver, could not afford the expensive medical treatment Mythili needed for her condition.

How Narbhavi Helped:

When Narbhavi Trust raised awareness about health insurance options, she volunteered and applied with Narbhavi’s guidance now she received the Kalaignar Kappittu Thittam.

Outcome:

Mythili is now able to afford the treatment for her DVT. She is receiving the medical care she needs and feels more secure about her health and future. The insurance has made a significant difference in her ability to seek the necessary treatment without the financial burden.

Venkatesh, 61

Background:
Venkatesh, a 61-year-old man, has a monthly income of ₹5,000. His wife has cataracts in her eyes and needs surgery, but due to financial constraints, they couldn't afford the procedure.

How Narbhavi Helped:
Through Narbhavi Trust’s eye camp, conducted on November 9th, 2024, Venkatesh brought his wife and registered her for cataract surgery. She is currently waiting for the surgery at Sankara Nethralaya Hospital. Additionally, with Narbhavi Trust's help, Venkatesh was able to secure health insurance under the Kalaignar Kappittu Thittam, which provides him with the confidence and financial support to care for his wife’s health.

Outcome:
With the health insurance, Venkatesh now feels more secure and empowered to manage his wife’s treatment and other medical needs, knowing that he has support in place for future care.
